Visiting the World Without a Passport!

Romantic, intellectual, or extreme: what kind of traveler are you? As we head into summer, for me, the feeling of excitement for the trip experience is heightened. Unfortunately, we don't always have the money to get away from it all in the long term. Among all the solutions one is relatively simple: reading travel books. In fact, we can visit dream destinations anywhere on the planet, all on the same day. We can thus satisfy our sense of curiosity and adventure inspiration.

Various subjects, pictures, and short paragraphs: the travel guide is more than a document for planning a trip. First, the geographic texts expand our overall knowledge, as well as improve basic skills in English: transports, directions, events, food, figures in history, and monuments. Of course, a passport is not required. All is free! Each day, according to our personality, we can take an immersive tour of amazing localities. It's not only to discover different cultures around the globe but for greater self-knowledge.

At my work, for school-based learning of the English language, I offer to students the DK Eyewitness collections. Among more than two hundred destinations, we have quick access to a succession of interesting places to get readers excited to explore new areas.

I appreciate these travel books whose graphic design, page layout, and short texts allow easy understanding for the traveler. As if we were there, maps and great pictures support the descriptions. All members of our Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec have free access to the OverDrive platform. On the home page catalog, simply search with the keywords "travel guide". So, borrow a large number of guidebooks from Lonely Planet and Fodor's Travel.

The travel book publishers give us the chance to escape without delay. When we travel with our noses stuck in the

guidebook the quality of illustrations, coupled with rich cultural text, we feel as if we are on the spot. Do you want to know why I love traveling? It's first and foremost to live an experience. That is to say, when I am elsewhere, I don't have a choice other than to get in touch with my personal knowledge. To find new reference points, I discover the beauty of nature. In the same way, I learn more about similar people or different from us. Above all, I get this feeling of freedom that connects to myself.
